Kentucky's 2010 Census Summary File 1 Data
Summary File 1 tables provide the most detailed information available so far from the 2010 Census, including cross-tabulations of age, sex, households, families, relationship to householder, characteristics of owners and renters, detailed race and Hispanic or Latino origin groups, and group quarters. The Census Bureau has several data access tools available and KSDC will be compiling Area Development District profiles and other data from this release in the coming weeks. 2010 Block TIGER Shapefiles with Public Law-94 Redistricting Data Note to GIS data users: KSDC had several requests for redisticting data joined to block shapefiles. Below is a link to the 2010 Public Law 94-171 TIGER Shapefiles for tabulation blocks with Table P1 (Total Population by Race) and Table H1 (Housing Units by Tenure) joined in the attribute tables. This is a large zipped file (153 megabytes) containing all 161,672 blocks in Kentucky. There is a "County" field available to select out blocks by county. The data include Total Population and Population 18 and Over by Race and Hispanic/Not Hispanic. Also included are Occupied and Vacant Housing Unit totals.The Census Bureau has 2010 Census Block maps and Tract Maps that can be downloaded and printed to assist with redistricting. The unedited 2010 PL-94 summary files can be downloaded from the Census Bureau if you prefer to work with those in ArcGIS, SAS, SPSS or some other database format. Here is a link to the 2010 Redistricting Data Technical Documentation in PDF format that has the data dictionary identifying the table cells (look in the Table Matrix beginning on page 64). Data users are encouraged to read the official Kentucky 2010 Census Redistricting Data News Release where there is an explanation of the contents and access tools for this data. KSDC has made available the five tables of County and City level data from this release in an easy to use Excel format (xls). These are unedited data converted from the CSV format used by the Census Bureau via the American FactFinder:
